Overcoming difficulties leads to courage, self-respect ; and knowing yourself.

Hi, my name is Mia Weng. I am an 11th grade high school student at Taipei American School. I first discovered that I like psychology because I saw a free course from Yale University in the United States on the Internet about personality psychology. At that time, I was very curious about it. Decided to sign up for this class. But since the class was free I could only watch some videos and answer the questions. So in March of this year during the spring break, I asked my mother to help me enroll in a linguistics psychology program. That class was led by a professor from the Department of Psychology at Cornell University in the United States, and he taught We learn a lot about how different ways of speaking can change a person's feelings. The teacher taught us that different languages use different ways to express things. For example, in Greek language, it is very important. They won't say it's a very important thing, they will say it's a big thing, so because different forms are used adjectives will make them think differently about a very important thing. He took us to see some of the reports he had written on many different experiments he had done before, and I immediately discovered that they were related to me. Their daily lives coincide with each other. My final evaluation is to write a report, the main purpose of which is to analyze the shortcomings of my supervisor in the left and right dominant hand experiment. And propose other improvement experiments and correct these shortcomings. This summer I applied to study child and adult psychology at the University of Chicago, and was lucky enough to be admitted. For three weeks, our teacher took us to see some basic children's reactions to the world, and also allowed us to understand children's reactions to the world. In fact, children are born with the ability to distinguish language. In fact, children are much smarter than we think. It also broke me Get rid of a lot of incorrect thinking patterns. In that class, I learned why children have some emotional instability. How is he exposed to the environment around him when he is born? Our teacher explained to us in great detail that children will be able to distinguish languages when they are a few months old. When he is young, he will have a way to distinguish the appearance of different people's faces, and a way to choose which one he likes. At the same time, it also teaches children what changes will affect their lives as they grow up and become adults, such as if a child does not learn language well when he is a child, or if there is no one to communicate with him, his expressive ability will be impaired when he grows up. Our final report at a summer camp was on investigating the relative future of bilingualism and its relationship to issues related to executive function. Our thinking is that people who know different languages will always have two languages actively switching in their heads, and hey have to distinguish when to use which language at the right time, so their brain usage and development will be improve.
The above is my preliminary understanding and outline of psychology so far.
thank you
